Adoptions & Fostering
 

• Fees: $40 (Adults) / $50 (Puppies). Includes $10 city tag.

• Requirements: Photo ID, contract, and scheduled rabies vaccination ($20 at Twist Junction Veterinary Clinic).

• Foster-to-Adopt: We offer fostering, a trial period is encouraged to ensure a good fit for your lifestyle.

City Ordinances & Rules
 

• Tags/Vaccines: Annual rabies shots (16+ weeks) and city tags ($10) are mandatory.

• ​Limits: Max 4 dogs per household. 5+ dogs require a kennel and breeder’s certificate. No roosters allowed in the city limits.

• Leash Law: Animals must be confined to property or on a leash at all times (including Rita Blanca Lake Trails). Cats must be vaccinated and confined to property, not allowed to roam freely.

• Fees/Fines: $25/day impound fee regardless of time picked up. Citations issued for "dogs at large" and nuisance violations.

• Traps: Available M-F during business hours, not available on weekends. Must allow access for ACO to check traps and remove animals.

Adoption Success (The 3-3-3 Rule)
 

• 3 Days: Decompression. Keep it quiet; use a crate and a consistent routine.

• 3 Weeks: Settling in. Establish boundaries and start basic training.

• 3 Months: Building trust. The dog finally feels at home.

Support the Shelter
 

• Volunteering: Open to all ages (including community service).

• Donations: Drop off at 609 Liberal St.

  • Needed: Cleaning supplies (Bleach, Odoban, Pine-Sol), dog treats, leashes, collars, and bedding.
